SOLP Formation

As Sisters of Our Lady of Providence we have a special call to experience God as our Father and Mother and to see all people as our brothers and sisters. We are called to be a prophetic sign in a divided world. Wherever we are and whatever our apostolate, we discern the active presence of God in our history, constantly discerning the needs of our times. Believing in God’s Providence we put all our trust in the creative and saving love revealed in Jesus the Son. The following characteristic virtues should mark our life-style and interaction with one another and others. “Our Confidence, Simplicity, Joy and Service reveal the Love living within us, our faith in Providence and the hope we want to awaken in others.” Const. No: 7 From its origin the Charism of the Congregation leads us to the Young and the Poor with a mission to arouse hope. Jesus, through his life and mission made a definite option for the poor. Today the Charism continues to be effective in the different countries where we are making a definite option for the young, the poor and the marginalized. In collaboration with other persons and groups we work for the growth of the Kingdom of God, a kingdom of justice, love, brotherhood, and respect for the dignity of each one.

“We are missionaries, chosen to help save souls for whom the Word took flesh. Sisters of Our Lady of providence, brought together in Jesus Christ, and faithful to our beginnings, we work with the Church to fulfill the present day needs of the world, showing, as Christ did, special care for the poor. ”Const. No. 8

“To become a priest or a religious is not primarily our choice; it is our calling, a calling of love. We should take whatever steps we can to make sure that our people in Formation realize that their vocation is a gift, a mission.” Pope Francis.

“My mission of being in the heart of the people is not just a part of my life or a badge I can take off; it is not an ‘extra’ or just another moment in my life. Instead, it is something I cannot uproot from my being without destroying my very self. I am a mission on this earth; that is the reason why I am here in this world.” (E. G. 273) Pope Francis.
